Hello all, long time reader, finally made an account. I come at this from the talent side, I coach models and performers on the business parts they never get taught, rates, boundaries, taxes, not burning out. I am not technical so a lot of the infra threads go over my head, but I lurk them to understand what my people are actually dealing with on the platform side. Looking forward to learning from the operators here, and happy to answer anything from the talent perspective if it is ever useful.
Welcome. The business side coaching is so needed, half the performers I know got zero guidance and learned every lesson the expensive way. Stick around, the operators here are more thoughtful than most places.
Good to have you. The boundaries and burnout part especially, I wish someone had drilled that into talent I worked with early on. A lot of avoidable blowups come from people having no framework for saying no. Welcome aboard.
Welcome Mara. Honest question since you offered, what is the one business mistake you see new performers make most that an operator could help prevent on our end? Always trying to figure out where the platform can nudge people right.
Not tracking anything. They have no idea which platform or which type of content actually pays until tax time hits them like a truck. If your platform made a simple earnings and content breakdown easy to export, you would save a lot of people from flying blind. That alone would prevent half the panic I get in January.
Welcome. Seconding the tracking point hard. The performers who last are the ones who treat it like a business from month one, and almost nobody arrives knowing how. Glad someone is doing that coaching.
welcome mara! as talent myself this is refreshing, most business advice out there is either scammy course sellers or operators who dont get the performer side at all. following you
late welcome. the burnout thing cannot be said enough. i coach a couple newer girls informally and the number one thing is pacing, everyone sprints for three months and vanishes. glad youre here doing it properly
