a dev i work with on my own projects has spare capacity right now, so im passing him along. he does tube and clip script customization and fixes, the usual adult cms stuff, and he actually knows the space so you dont spend the first week explaining what the site is.
think theme and template work, fixing a broken import, custom upload or paywall logic, speeding up a slow members area, patching a script the original author abandoned. adult content is a non issue for him. not the cheapest gun for hire, but he gets it and he doesnt disappear mid job. drop what script youre running and what you need and ill connect you if its a fit.
good timing, will dm about a fix i keep putting off. one thing worth saying for the thread though, whoever you hire, pin the scope down in writing before any work starts. open ended just make it better turns into endless billing and a moving target. a tight list of exactly what done looks like saves everyone the argument later.
second that, and make sure they actually know your specific script before you hand over access. the adult tube and clip cms world is full of forks and custom jobs that look standard and arent, and a generalist dev will spend your money just learning the codebase. ask what hes actually shipped on your platform, not whether he can figure it out.
yeah the scope in writing is non negotiable, learned it the hard way paying a dev by the hour to wander around a codebase he didnt know. this guy has shipped on the common adult scripts so hes not learning on your dime. and i always get the done definition in writing before he starts, saves the exact argument broker is talking about.
for a tiny one off fix you can probably find someone on a gig marketplace cheaper, no shame in that. but for anything ongoing or anything touching billing and uploads you want a known dev who gets adult, not a random who might ghost with your db access half done. depends whether its a quick patch or a real relationship.
even with a dev who knows his stuff, insist everything goes through staging and gets tested before it touches the live members area. ive seen a clean little fix take a payment page down for an afternoon because it went straight to prod on a friday. a staging step and a rollback plan cost almost nothing next to a day of broken checkout.
if you dont hire out, learning to do the small template and config fixes yourself isnt the nightmare people make it out to be, i handled the little stuff on my own scripts for a while with a staging copy and a lot of googling. a real dev is worth it for the hard or risky changes, not every tiny tweak. depends what your time is worth.
