Something i only half-track and probably should measure properly: does your adult traffic have a real weekly rhythm? i have a vague sense weekends are heavier and convert differently, but i have never sat down and broken my numbers out by day of week to plan around it. curious whether people see a consistent weekend bump, a weekday-evening pattern, or whether it is flat enough not to bother. and if you do see a rhythm, do you actually do anything with it, schedule content, shift ad spend, or just note it and move on?
yeah, and it’s consistent enough to actually plan around. what i see everywhere is a weekend and weekday-evening bump, people browsing on their own time. it converts a bit softer per head but there’s a lot more of it. what i do with it is boring, drop new content and warm the list ahead of the weekend so the extra traffic lands on something fresh. most people never break their numbers out by day of week so they never see the pattern at all.
real pattern, worth pacing spend to, but check your own mix first because it’s geo-dependent. the weekend bump isn’t the same size in every market, and if your traffic skews somewhere with a different work week the curve shifts. once you know your own day-of-week shape you can lean spend and content into the peaks and ease off the troughs. small thing that compounds.
shows up on the yield side too, inventory prices move with it, so it’s worth pacing your floors and spend to the curve instead of running flat all week. the traffic’s a touch softer per head on the peaks and there’s a lot more of it, which is exactly when you want content and buyers lined up. measure your own day-of-week shape once and you can ride it on purpose.
geo is the key caveat. a work week isn’t the same everywhere, and if your traffic skews to a market with a different weekend the whole curve slides a day or two. so don’t copy someone else’s weekend-is-best rule, pull your own numbers by day of week and by geo. the rhythm’s real, the exact shape of it is local to you.
in my tier2 tier3 geos the rhythm is there but it is not always the weekend that peak, some markets are strongest mid-week evening. so i agree there is a rhythm, i just would not assume it is the same weekend shape everyone talk about. check the geo, the calendar is local.
